Images of Text
Whenever possible, text must be used to communicate information rather than an image of text.
Requirements
- Text must be used to communicate information rather than an image of text
- Text can be customized by the user (i.e. font size, font family, font colour and background can be changed)
Why it matters
- People with low vision (who may have trouble reading the text with the authored font family, size and/or colour)
- People with visual tracking problems (who may have trouble reading the text with the authored line spacing and/or alignment)
- People who are visually impaired and use assistive technology such as a screen reader
- People with cognitive disabilities that affect reading
Exceptions
There are a few exceptions when using images of text. It is recommended to ensure text displayed is not critical to conveying the message.
- Text that is part of the scene or in the environment
- Text that is part of an object such as a computer screen or credit card
- Logos and trademarks

Definitions
- Image of text: Text that has been displayed in a non-text form (e.g., an image)
- Text: A sequence of characters expressing something in human language
- Customized: The font style, font size, font colour, and background can be changed by the Guest using assistive technologies
