seat sale - Always two words.

standby - All one word.

Wi-Fi - Always hyphenated, always with a capital “W” and “F”.

inflight - All one word.

exclusive - Do not use; experience is always inclusive.

Exit row seat

Are located next to an emergency exit; provide extra legroom; come with additional restrictions

These seats have some additional restrictions and as such, to travel in an emergency exit row seat, you must:

  • Be 16 years of age or older.
  • Be able to speak English or French for an emergency exit briefing or if they choose a seat receiving the emergency exit briefing.
  • Have sufficient mobility, strength and dexterity to operate the emergency exit (i.e. must be able bodied).
  • Be able to visually determine if the exit is safe to open.
  • Not require special handling or the use of a mobility aid or medical device.
  • Not require the use of an oxygen concentrator or cylinder.
  • Not be travelling with an animal in the cabin.
  • Not be solely responsible for another person.
  • Not have a condition that might cause them bodily harm by operating the exit.
  • Not require a seatbelt extender as this presents a tripping hazard.

If you choose to select an emergency exit row seat and the flight crew identifies that you are not qualified based on the above restrictions, you will be moved to another seat.

Extended Comfort Seat

Note: This label is not used for an Exit Row Seat.

Extended Comfort is a section on the aircraft and a seat option for guests in the Economy cabin (Basic, UltraBasic, Econo & EconoFlex) to purchase. Extended Comfort is not a cabin type. Ensure it is always clear that it is in the Ecomony cabin to avoid confusion with an Economy fare types.

Other Seat Terms

Advance seat selection voucher

Guests can redeem to select their seat early at no charge; Valid for complimentary advance seat selection (i.e. prior to check-in) on any seat within the UltraBasic, Econo or EconoFlex fare options where a seat selection fee applies; not valid to upgrade to a seat in Premium or Business, nor to select or change a seat during check-in when travelling on a Basic fare.

Seat selection fee

Seat selection fees vary based on the fare bundle and the type and location of the seat. A fee is charged for each flight segment on connecting flights, both to and from destination.

Pre-reserved seat

When describing or labeling a seat that a guest has selected or paid for in advance of their flight. Includes waived seats and family seating. This is often abbreviated internally at PRS. This acronym should never be guest facing.
