UX Research and Testing
Gathers insights about user expectations, motivations, and pain points.
Benefits
Research and testing can help you deliver positive, high impact, and consistent experiences for guests and users. We do this by conducting research, considering the big picture, using data, and including guests and WestJetters in the problem-solving process.
Testing vs. Research
Testing is the process of running a digital test (primarily using templates) to answer a specific question. i.e. What is the preferred version? Can users complete the task/flow.
Research is the process of using a variety of research methodologies like digital testing, physical. Research uncovers user expectations, user mindset, answer a set of complex questions, and evaluates user behaviour.
Do
- Create a clear learning objective before starting your test. What are you trying to learn from this test? Don't just compare A vs B and ask "which is your favourite?"
- Stay neutral with your questions and allow the users to expand on their thoughts
- Combine both qualitative and quantitative questions in your testing. This helps give you a better gut check and allows users to explain their responses.
- Prioritize actionable questions, there is no point
Don't
- Ask yes or no questions, instead ask a questions that forces the user to elaborate on their answer.
- Ask users about a function or feature that we do not have the ability to provide.
