UltraBasic is our lowest-price, no-frills fare option.
Medium Description
UltraBasic fare is our lowest price, no-frills fare option. Although there are restrictions with this fare, you’ll still enjoy the great WestJet service and inflight experience you’re used to. Familiarize yourself with the limitations of UltraBasic to make sure it is the right fare for you.
Large Description
UltraBasic is our lowest price, no-frills fare option with the same great WestJet service you are used to. There are restrictions like no changes, no carry-on bags and pre-assigned seats at the back of the aircraft that may not be together. You'll have the option to add certain extras that you need, from reserving a seat in advance or adding a checked bag. Familiarize yourself with the limitations of UltraBasic to make sure it's the right fare for you.

Carry-on attribute depends on fare and route - See below*
One personal item included - This bag must fit under the seat in front of you. You cannot store your personal item in the overhead bin. 41 cm x 15 cm x 33 cm (16 in x 6 in x 13 in)
No changes or cancellations - Changes and cancellations can only be made within 24 hours of booking.
Last to board
Advance seat selection for a higher fee - If you do not select a seat before check-in, you will be randomly assigned a seat at the back of the aircraft and may not be seated with your party. There is a fee to change your assigned seat.
Checked bags for a higher fee - You can add checked bags for a fee. Must be under 23 kg (50 lbs).
No WestJet Rewards earn - You will not earn WestJet [dollars/points] or tier qualifying spend with this fare.
No cabin upgrade - You are not eligible for paid or complimentary cabin upgrades.

Any route that is not transatlantic or transpacific.
No carry-on bag permitted - You cannot bring or pay for a carry-on bag.

If you arrive at the gate with a carry-on bag, you will be charged a checked bag fee and a service fee to check this bag.
If you arrive at the gate with a carry-on bag, you will be charged a checked bag fee and a service fee. To avoid the service fee, add checked bags to your reservation before you arrive at the airport.

When route cannot be specified
When content is static for all routes, always lead with the restriction followed by the exception.
